Barnstaple 2008
We had been waiting for this day for month. Somebody made a calendar, someone started the shopping for the trip in January, others simply talked about it all the time. So we could hardly believe it was the big day, not even when we pressed our luggage into the bus. On the first day everybody was very wakeful, especially the boys at the end of the bus, which was bug, but not big enough for forty teenagers. In the next two days this bus was our uncomfortable home.

We arrived in Barnstaple in the evening where our host families were waiting for us. All of them were really nice and helpful. My classmate and I spent the holiday with the Green family, who were talkative and friendly. After showing us the house and our room we had a delicious dinner. We chatted for a while than we went to bed. The next day we had our first lesson where Yvonne and Vonnie, our kind teachers, told us the most important information about our school programme. After lunch, our guide, Tim, showed us around in the city. We visited the local museum, the library, the market and some of the popular shops.

When the introduction finished we had a lesson with Vonnie in Room 3 and she spoke about herself: she came from Australia and she had a funny ball. After a few minutes we caught sight of the funny ball which was not a ball but it was funny. She threw the ball and we had to tell her information about ourselves. In the break we finally ate our lunch, which consisted of one sandwich, cookies, vinegar chips and the strange but delicious blue chocolate and water.
One day we visited the haunted castle of Powderham. It looks like the castle that you imagine while reading the books of the Brontes or Jane Austen. Its garden is full of colourful flowers and bushes and there's a path where you can take a peaceful walk and there's also a lovely pond. And when you entered the castle you could easily imagine the life of the old times English Aristocracy.
On the way home we went to London and in the outskirts of the metropolitan city we could see a lot of airplanes departing and landing at the world famous Heathrow Airport. In the city centre we took a walk to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, big Ben and from the London Eye we could see the amazing city of London. I think this city looks much friendlier, with its red double decker buses and London cabs, than any other metropolitan city.

Homewards we did not stop anywhere to sleep. Many people couldn't stop the travelling and had stomach aches, but the good memories came up in the dreams and chats. On Sunday night we arrived in Miskolc. It was good to meet the parents, relatives and friends who are still listening to our stories about our great experiences in England
